Start wide
Stand back far enough to show how the work area relates to the house, road, driveway, neighboring grade, and likely equipment route.
- One view from each end of the work area
- A view from the road or main access point
- The direction water currently travels
- Nearby structures, utilities, slopes, and finished surfaces
Then show the problem
Add closer views of the condition you want changed, while keeping enough context to understand where it is.
- Washout, standing water, cracking, settlement, or soft areas
- Downspout outlets, low points, and discharge areas
- Edges of existing concrete, gravel, walls, decks, or fencing
- A tape measure in the photo when a rough dimension is useful
Include access
Access can shape the equipment, trucking, sequencing, and restoration required for a project.
- Driveway width and overhead clearance
- Gates, tight turns, steep slopes, and soft ground
- Distance between the road and work area
- Landscaping or surfaces that need protection
